is John getting lazy??
the Blue ridge rangers #2 cd was quite boring, none of his trademark guitar sound and pretty lame vocals, like reading fro a book,no heart and soul there. The new cd ,it seems, might be worse.A bunch of ccr. hits re-recorded and done in duets with mostly country artists, not looking forward to that.Got nothing against country music,as a matter of fact one of my idols is Waylon, but John should decide if he's country or good ole r'n'r.He should maybe spend a little less time touring(in Europe)and stay home and write more songs so he would not have to revisit.

RE: is John getting lazy??
I would hardly call John lazy with the amount of touring and recording he's done in the past few years. I'm not a musician, but I would imagine that songwriting is an arduous task and very time consuming. I think JF is probably enjoying his family life and looking back on his career and reflecting on all the great things he has accomplished. If I can stay half as busy as JF is right now when I hit 67, I'll be in great shape.

Re: is John getting lazy??
i agree with you as i am a huge fan,saw him 5 times in concert, and soon driving all the way up to Nova Scotia for a Sept. concert, but the point of my post was about the albums.Brr2 was lacking in production and arrangements. When you do covers(being a musician myself for over 45 yrs)you bring something new to the songs, add some spices,a personal touch, more or less beat here and there,it didn't happen on Brr2.
A song like "never ending song of love" could have been the foot stompin',hand clapping highlight instead it was a pale copy of the original, same goes for "back home again",moody river..etc...As a fan i was disapointed It's a great idea to re-do ccr songs for the new album, add something to them as long as you're redoing them(not that they need improvements)but as duets,??!!Who came out with that idea, those songs do not lend themselves for duets.I feel i will be disapointed again. -

When you set yourself up for disappointment, you will be.
