Wrote A Song For Everyone
Now to be released May, 2013. Cannot figure why the delay with this. Some time ago, it was reported that there would be 4 new Fogerty originals...then the date was delayed. I thought, and hoped, that John would release this as a 2 disc set, one of the reissued stuff, and the second disc would be a full new set of Fogerty originals, and that was the reason for the additional delay in release date. Now it looks as if there are only 2 new Fogerty songs, unless these 2 are covers, which is not clear. The song info only states "John solo", or something to that effect. Guess I'm a little disappointed, as I've always admired John for performing his songs "true" (pretty much) to the original studio recordings. Never really been interested in "covers" of John's stuff. For instance, Tina Turner's "Proud Mary" is just ok, but not nearly as good as John's original. Maybe after hearing the covers, I will change my mind?? We'll see
Edit: Are the 2 solo songs "new" or are these the 2 songs on one of John's "lost" singles from the 70's? The titles seem familiar to me, and remember reading about the lost single in the original forum back in the day. Anyway, maybe someone can straighten me out on this.

Re: Wrote A Song For Everyone
Don't be too disappointed. The songs are brand new and not related to any of the singles he put out during 'the lost years'. John Fogerty has been extremely busy these past few years so I certainly can't begrudge the man for having just two new and orignal songs on this CD. Since I moved from Southern Cal to Arkansas in 2004, JF has put out 4 studio albums (including the new one in May), 2 DVDS, a greatest hits collection and toured extensively. I also think it's great that JF is taking the time to savor his older stuff and relish in the joy on the impact it has had on the other musicians who are guesting on this new CD. I can remember those dark and silent years in the 70s and 80s/90s where we heard nothing. It's great that he's back and going full steam!

The titles might sound familiar because the words are found in other Fogerty songs:
Mystic Isle Avalon (Tom Fogerty) + Rattlesnake Highway = Mystic Highway!
Big Train from Memphis + Blue Moon Nights (just a fool passion' through) = Train of Fools!
Then there's the Aretha Franklin song: "Train train train.... train of fools"

New songs indeed... but what lost single are you referring to? I don't know of any lost singles... unless you're talking about Dark Train, but that was a joke created by some fans, it never really existed...
