LONDON HYDE PARK SHOW

Sat, Jul 14, 2012 at 3:47 PM

The big London Hyde Park
Hart Rock Calling concert
I estimate more than 70.000 people (maybe even more)
all came for John Fogerty
Lady Antebullum played the support
they even admitted being big Fogerty-fans
oh yeah , I almost forgot Bruce Springsteen played the after-show
it was only a one-hour show for John
but it was a powerful greatest hits show
what surprised me the most was that Pretty Woman had the biggest cheers
all the other songs were sung by the biggest part of the crowd
John alluded to his throat-problems by saying "you never know what will come out
on this side of the microphone"
but everybody was superbly satisfied
Proud Mary was played as first encore (normaly second)
because in the second encore Bruce Springsteen came to join John in Rockin' all
over the world singing face to face in one microphone and hugging like big friends
after the song
John also joined Bruce Springsteen in his set on Promised Land (if I'm right)
tomorrow a day off in London
and then the big festival of Peer in BELGIUM
to finish the european tour 2012 in absolute beauty in the country with the most
Fogerty-fans and that for such a small country
so the tour almost began (second show) in the home-town of Anne and Micio
and finishes in (closely) the home-town of Robert and Petra
it couldn't be more symbolic
next time you're invited to my home-town at the sea-side of Belgium
or very closely in Bruges at the very beautiful Cactus-festival

It was great to be there and see John perform in front of all those people. By the end of his set, everybody was singing along. John's voice was really gone in the first few songs, but after he warmed up, it became a lot better. I said it before, respect to the man for his will power, others would just give up, but he managed to give a great show even in bad circumstanced (the Springsteen fans I spoke to after the show where all very impressed!).

Also, I would like to thank John's management on behalf of Anne, Robert, Petra and of course myself! They knew this was the only concert of the tour we couldn't manage to get tickets for (it was sold out long before it was announced that John would perform there), and they made sure that we could attend it anyway!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We're sorry we couldn't make it to the front this time (we booked our flight less than 8 hours before it would depart, so yes, we were a bit late at the venue...). But we were there cheering for John and singing along all the time!

    The setlist:
    Hey Tonight
    Lookin' Out My Backdoor
    Lodi
    Born On The Bayou
    Hot Rod Heart
    Who'Ll Stop The Rain
    Down On The Corner
Have You Ever Seen The Rain
    Keep On Chooglin'
    Old Man Down The Road
    Bad Moon Rising
    Fortunate Son
    Proud Mary
Rockin' All Over The World (with Bruce Springsteen)

During Bruce's set, John came on stage again and they sang The Promised Land together!

Going to bed now, we just came back from London after a night at the airport, I'm TIRED!!! Ah well, it's all part of the adventure of touring around to see John!

    Hey yall:

Thanks for the continuing updates, stories and set lists from the shows!!!! Hyde Park had to be a blast either from close up or not!!! Great that everyone was able to get in to see John in spite of its sold out status long before. Again a very generous and thoughtful part on behalf of John for his fans. Cannot wait for his return to the U.S. and Canada to enjoy some more JCF!!!!!

    Keep the stories comin'!!!!!

Hi everyone yes we had a great day! Most of the trip (11hrs) was spent getting desperate for some sleep in the airport/trainstation :-D but hell yeah we had a FANTASTIC time at the festival!!! So great to see John with Bruce. Gratefull that we were able to be a part of this!! Even at row 15 we had the best time ever. We felt really bad that he had troubles with his voice :-( poor thing, what a timing. He did make a few jokes about it but still... We were surprised to see there were still official tickets at the entrance! Only bad thing was the weather, though the sun came trhough during Johns show :-) and I'm so proud of John! we left after Promised Land because we had been standing all day and could walk straight anymore, and it was raining and cold and we didnt have decent rainclothes. We spent the night at several trainstations and the airport and the most of today too hahahaha but we would do it all over again, it was worth all the trouble! Never booked anything so last minute before, we didnt have a clue what we were doing but it all worked out, thanks to the rocknroll gods :-)
we're so tired right now, finally back in my own bed, woooooooohooo!

Steve: aw comon, if you would have joined us in the last few years in all the weird stuff we did trying to see John, you'd probably got a ticket too :-D

    Petra

Agree whole heartedly, it was awesome!! We were dancing and cheering and singing along so loud I'm sure some of the people around us heard us better than John! :D Hope they didn't mind.. But I saw a lot of people having fun during John's show, it must've been very uplifting to perform in front of all those people. Seeing Bruce play together with John was also very cool! I never saw him live before. We stayed to listen to him also for most of the concert, but indeed we were so tired we had to go at some point. The trip was totally worth everything. We were like zombies last night and I went straight to bed when we got back to Eindhoven (only got up for dinner and got stuck on the computer ;)) but there's only one more concert to see tomorrow and I'm feeling really positive. :) I also want to give a big THANK YOU to John's management, we all appreciate it!!

Steve, give us a break on this one. I get that it may seem unfair, but like Petra said, we've also really done everything in our power for years to follow John even when it's not been convenient at all, and that's the fun part in my opinion. Besides I thought you were not even wanting to go because Bruce was headlining and the other shows were too far away? Is it away from you that we got the chance to go? I sincerely hope not! Hope to see you at a concert sometime! :)
...and that's what I call chooglin'

The Best Line in All These Comments . . .

It was in Arnold's very first post:

"...oh yeah , I almost forgot Bruce Springsteen played the after-show..."

That says it all for most of the Fogerty Freeks...

Thanks Arnold... Plus, Anne, Petra and Micio too.

    Yeah, we made it.
Actually we didn't plan to go to the UK as we would probably be extremely tired by then and also it would cost a lot of money. Then they offer you free tickets, an offer we couldn't refuse. So we went anyway and had a great time ! I felt the pain inside too when I saw John struggling with his voice but just as the others said, he kept on going for it and believing in it and just did it.
People pay for a ticket, John gives them a show for their money instead.
That's why we love this man I guess !!
    More later....

    hi million milers
Firstly my post wasn`t a swipe at what you guys do...,let me be the first to say i have the most admiration for the time and money you spend on travellin the world to see john fogerty, if the reward is tickets from the fogerty camp then fine i have no problem with that. All i was trying to say was i know some fogerty fans who wanted to go but the show was "sold out", but as arnold said if they has turned up they probably would have got in but the ticket prices on the day would have been really expensive....i had no intentions of going anyway for various reasons so it wasn`t about me it was a general question.I have met some of the fans over the years some i haven`t ,so i hope if john returns to these shores i can meet some more fans because at the end of the day its about john fogerty/.creedence music and the fans.

Steve, the ticket price at the venue was 70 pounds, just 10 pounds more than the presale price... if we had known in advance that we would have been able to buy tickets, we would have planned the whole thing long ago... the free tickets were a very last minute surprise, we just barely managed to find an affordable flight (I booked it at 2AM on the day of the concert...), and we had to sleep on a station's floor as there was no time to find a hotel we could afford...

I guess these free tickets were a way to thank us for the effort of going to all the concerts. We usually have to pay for our own tickets and stay in line for hours just like everybody else, and to be honest that's the way we like it, as it's all part of the fun of going to see John.

Call them "Frequent Fogerty Flier Miles". The "Million Milers" deserve a few perks for all their travels. I tip my cap to them. Rockin' All Over the World.

As Captain Kirk once said, "May fortune favor the foolish."

Besides "sold out" ain't necessarily so. Just ask the Boston Red Sox.

"I won't be losin' my way, long as I can see the light."
