Re: Oshawa Show TOnight
Wow! What a polished show John put on tonight in Oshawa. His stage show with the slide show, lights , smoke and what have you just increased the enjoyment level ten fold. John was in rare form, his voice was amazing considering this was the third night of 3 in a row for him. The band was super tight, the interaction between John and Kenny on the powerhouse numbers like Ramble Tamble and Keep on Chooglin' was insane. If there is a better drummer out there right now I sure haven;t heard him. John's guitar work tonight was flawless and it was a nice treat to hear his blues licks on a bunch of songs. I seen him at Rama in Sept. 2010 and was very impressed then but tonight was way over the top for me. I was so into the show that I really lost track of the setlist at times and was just anticipating what would be next. Anytime John plays both Lodi and Travellin' Band in the same show I'm a happy camper as those 2 are my alltime favorite's from John.
The omly bad part about tonight and it had nothing to do with John was the fact that alcohol was served during the show and one girl in our row kept coming and going all through the show which was annoying but I didn't let that ruin a terrific concert.
Can't wait to see John live again next time in.
Dan.

Hi,
just a question about the setlist from the Oshawa-show (taken from setlist.fm).
JF started with Hey Tonight, than the Bayou Country album. In the second part he played Joy Of My Life in an acoustic version, foolwed from a Grateful Dead cover High Heeled Sneackers.
Is that right ?

From what I can gather (I wasn't there), there was a problem with Kenny's kick drum after "Lookin Out My Back Door." Rather than just stand around and make small-talk with the crowd while the drum was being replaced, John improvised with acoustic versions of the Joy of My Life and the old blues song "Hi-Heel Sneakers," a 60s song previously covered by the Rolling Stones and Beatles.
Which begs the question... why doesn't John improvise more in his concerts??? Unfortunately, the shows (as exciting as they are) are basically identical night-after-night: same stories, same setlist (save for the Cosmo's/Bayou album and one or two other songs), even the same solo-jams in Green River, Old Man, and Chooglin. If John came out and did an acoustic "Effigy" or "I Saw It on TV," how great would that be?? He used to do acoustic versions of "Wrote a Song for Everyone," "Deja Vu," and "Have You Ever Seen the Rain".... do that again! It'd also be great if he led his top-notch band through rock standards in the encore.... Long Tall Sally, Blue Suede Shoes, Summertime Blues, Great Balls of Fire, Johnny B. Goode, When Will I Be Loved, Midnight Hour, and Knock on Wood are all classics that he and his band have played before. Change things up and throw those into the setlist! -

Not a bad idea at all, GD196! I'd fall over dead if Fogerty played "Tombstone Shadow." Wouldn't you?

Thanks for your reply, giantsdave1966.
Indeed, there are so many Creedence-songs we would like to hear: Effigy, Pagan Baby, Walk On The Water. We will wait and what will happen. 2014, 2015 The Pendulum-songs, the Willy And The Poorboy Songs.
