Where was John Fogerty born?
Hello!
My friend write a book about rock-music and he asked me to check if John Fogerty was born in Berkley. He says Fogerty's songs make him daubt (from Bayou Country and Green River albums) may be he was born on Missisipi riverside. Does anyone know Fogerty's e-mail to send him a letter and ask him about it.

Hi, John was born in Berkeley, California. He sings a lot about the south of the USA, but actually he only went to visit the places he sings about as an adult. Many people still think he's from Mississippi or Louisiana or something, but he's not.

That question is the stuff of legend, Wenzer and nobody really knows WHERE John was born, but most people refuse the story that he was born on the bayou. He was born in a normal city in a normal hospital.
He was born in Berkeley, California - in a hospital named after a nurse; Alta Bates Hospital.
The day was May 28th, 1945. I believe it was a Monday and it is an urban myth
that states that any person born on a Monday is destined to be a working man.
Gemini is the zodiac sign of a person born on this day. Emerald is the modern birthstone for this month. Sapphire is the mystical birthstone from Tibetan origin that dates back over a thousand years.
Rooster is the mythical animal and Wood is the element for a person born on this day if we consider the very old art of Chinese astrology (or Chinese zodiac).
Anyhow - John is busy at work writing his autobiography. I hope he includes alot of those details for us to read and understand. PEACE / out. -

It's not a secret that he was born in Berkeley. You can find that anywhere on the internet, like for example Wikipedia, but also in books, articles about him and interviews that have appeared through the years... he was absolutely NOT born in the South of the USA.

Fogerty's family is from El Cerrito, California. John has Irish ancestry. The river is Putah Creek, a river in Northern California where John used to spend his vacations as a kid.

In regards to Green River, it was said that when John was just a kid, he'd go to the neighborhood Pharmacy where there was a soda jerk. John was drawn to this green colored soda pop that had the name of Green River. It was in those days that John imagined writing a song titled Green River; he received his inspiration for this wonderful song somehow from sipping the sweet soda.
You can still buy Green River soda pop today, at one of those rare stores that sell discontinued old sodas that come in glass bottles and made from real cane sugar. I have tasted Green River soda a number of times; it tastes good for only 2 or 3 sips.
Then it's just too sweet!!! YUCK!!! You have to throw it out the window, because the sugar is too concentrated and starts to taste awful sweet!
Anyhow - - - - John talks about his Green River days in old books and storylines. We're happy to fill you in where we can, but the truth is, nobody really knows where John's mythical Green River flows.
