Denver to commemorate 9/11 with ceremonies, World Trade Center wreckage and free concert downtown

Thousands are expected in Denver’s Civic Center park Sunday afternoon to reflect on the terrorists attacks on 9/11 with somber observance and a free tribute concert by John Fogerty and Colorado’s Big Head Todd and the Monsters.

Colorado Remembers 9/11 begins at 1 p.m. in Denver’s Civic Center park.

The concert is in keeping with the spirit of honor, said Melanie Pearlman, executive director of the Counterterrorism Education Learning Lab, or CELL, one of the mail sponsors.

“In the aftermath of 9/11, music played a significant role in uniting and healing our country, and we continue that tradition with Colorado Remembers 9/11,” she said. “When we come together as a community, we triumph in the face of tragedy. This commemoration will help us not only remember, but also demonstrate our country’s spirit of resilience.”
