On Sept. 11, John Fogerty will perform a commemorative concert in Civic Center for Colorado Remembers 9/11, which marks the 15th anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
Fogerty, who is the former frontman of classic American rock group Creedance Clearwater Revival, will perform with Denver alt-rockers Big Head Todd and the Monsters.
“Both of these bands recognize the importance of putting our differences aside when our country is so divided to unite on this day,” said Melanie Pearlman, executive director of the Counterterrorism Education Learning Lab (CELL), the organizer of Colorado Remembers 9/11.
Fogerty, who himself was enrolled in an Army reserve unit during the Vietnam War, was chosen as a replacement for Denver folk group The Lumineers, and might be a more appropriate fit. Fogerty is no stranger to performing in observance of our country’s service men and women. He performed in Washington, D.C., for veterans on July 4, 1987, and in 2014, played on the South Lawn of the White House for the PBS-broadcast “Salute to the Troops” ceremony.
