Sunday night at a sold-out Riverside Theater, John Fogerty seemed to be living in the past.
The former singer, songwriter and lead guitarist for Creedence Clearwater Revival is focusing on 1969 on his current tour, when Creedence broke out with a whopping three hit albums, before imploding from band member disputes just three years later. Fogerty reflected on that year in a pre-show documentary, and reminisced about Woodstock during Sunday's concert. Only six of the night's 21 songs came from the four-decade solo career that followed Creedence's breakup. Fogerty's wardrobe choices haven't changed much either. At one point, there was a video of a flannel-clad Fogerty reminiscing about his flannel-clad younger self...while a flesh-and-blood Fogerty sang "Mystic Highway"...while wearing flannel of course.
